Experience to assist you

Neil has now been practising for more than 20 years, which came as a surprise to him.  Throughout that time he has appeared in the Employment Tribunal.  He represents both employers and employees, and has extensive experience in unfair dismissal, holiday pay, unlawful deduction of earnings, national minimum wage, and discrimination cases.

He also works with the Firm’s corporate and commercial teams on less adversarial aspects of employment law, regularly advising on employment law issues arising out of business reorganisations, purchases and sales, including TUPE, redundancy and contracts.

Neil became involved in liquor licensing when the latest statutory regime was introduced by the 2005 Act.  He is happy to assist with new premises licence applications, or major or minor variations to client’s existing licences. Liquor Licensing rules mean it is important for him to work closely with corporate and commercial colleagues to make sure deals can properly complete when planned.

Going the extra mile

Neil’s approach is, as soon as possible, to ask the question “what does success look like?”, and he strives to ensure that the conclusion reached for the client approaches the answer as closely as possible.

Other Roles

Neil has also worked in dispute resolution since he began practicing, and has latterly focused on professional negligence work.  He has a member of the Law Society’s Pursuer’s Panel, selected by the Law Society on the basis of their expertise in dealing with professional negligence claims.
