On Friday 9th May we held an action-packed Dinner & Dance at the Marcliffe Hotel & Spa where attendees dug deep during a range of fundraising activities.
These included an auction which saw a host of impressive items – including a Vespa scooter, a hot air balloon ride and a tour of the House of Commons – up for grabs.
We raised in excess of £13,000 and the donation will be directly contributed to Aberdeen Cyrenian's ‘Violence Against Women’ project, which helps vulnerable women who have experienced or are currently experiencing physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse.
The initiative’s specialist services include one-to-one support – guiding women on how to address issues in their lives and assisting them in accessing relevant services – and a Women’s Group, which provides a non-threatening space for clients to meet together and build their confidence and self-esteem.
Aberdeen Cyrenians’ Scott Baxter commented: “We’re extremely grateful to the team at Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace for this kind donation.
“The cash raised will be used within our ‘Violence Against Women’ initiative, which, tragically, is experiencing a significant rise in demand.
“It’s essential that women who suffer abuse have somewhere to turn to and this money will help us provide them with specialist support to recover from their experiences.”
Our own Managing Partner, Keith Allan, added: “We are delighted to have raised a considerable amount of money for such a worthy cause and we are extremely grateful to everyone who supported the evening.“
Aberdeen Cyrenians was established in 1968. In the last 40 years the range of services offered by the charity has grown considerably. Originally just providing food and shelter, the services now aim to meet all the varying needs of people affected by homelessness in Aberdeen and the surrounding area.
