Leading Aberdeen and North-east legal firm Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace (RCCW) has announced two promotions within its highly regarded Private Client department, with the promotion of Amy Watson to partner, and Ruth Lussier to Associate.
Amy is a former pupil of St Margaret’s School for Girls in Aberdeen and a graduate of Aberdeen University. Following graduation in 2007, Amy joined RCCW as a trainee solicitor and worked in several departments before being joining the private client team as a newly qualified solicitor in 2009.
Amy is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and until last year was co-ordinator of the Aberdeen STEP Discussion Group, a role which has helped foster relationships within the Private Client professional community so as to be able to serve clients to the high standards they expect and deserve.
Amy also spearheaded the firm’s campaign to be recognised as a STEP Employer Partner, a high level of accreditation in the profession that recognises compliance with good practice in the training and development of staff working within the Private Client sector. The firm is one of the few in Scotland to hold this valued accreditation.
Ruth Lussier’s involvement with RCCW began before her traineeship, as she had worked as a secretary in the firm’s Court department during time out after graduating.
Following graduation, Ruth started her traineeship in 2013 and worked at several of RCCW’s branch offices before moving to the Private Client department in Aberdeen to complete the last part of her traineeship before qualifying in 2015. Ruth has remained in the department ever since. She undertakes all aspects of private client work, including executry administration, Wills, Powers of Attorney and care cost planning.
Douglas Crombie, Senior Partner in the firm’s Private Client Department said: “I congratulate Amy and Ruth for these well-deserved promotions and we wish both ladies well for the future. Our private client team is now established as one of Aberdeen’s most highly regarded and respected, and has been particularly busy over the last three months as clients look to put their affairs in order in response to the COVID pandemic. Amy and Ruth have been a critical part of the development of the department over recent years.”
Managing partner Callum McDonald said: “it is pleasing at this most difficult time to announce some good news, and I am particularly delighted with these promotions since both Ruth and Amy have been with us since leaving University, and demonstrate the firm’s ethos of encouraging and rewarding loyalty and hard work. Amy becomes our first new partner since we converted to an LLP last year and we expect that both ladies will continue to be a tremendous asset to our firm for many years.”
RCCW has grown to become one of the largest full service legal firms headquartered in Aberdeen, with a staff of more than 150 and a strong network of branch offices in Stonehaven, Banchory, Ellon and Inverurie.
