FIRM RAISES VITAL FUNDS FOR CYSTIC FIBROSIS TRUST

Big hearted employees from award winning Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace, have raised £6,500 for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust, the firm’s chosen charity for the past year, after organising an array of fundraising activities.

The organisation is the only UK charity dedicated to all aspects of cystic fibrosis, funding research to treat and cure the disease and aiming to ensure that anyone affected by the illness is provided with appropriate clinical care and support.

Throughout the year, employees from the Aberdeen, Ellon, Banchory, Inverurie and Stonehaven offices as well as the property shop, organised a host of weird and wonderful activities to raise the total, including quiz nights, cake sales, lunches, competitions and raffles. In addition, staff organised much enjoyed bacon roll runs.

The fundraising drive also saw Raeburns partner Stewart Smith perform with his band at a charity concert, the Funk Connection Gig.

Raeburns’ Associate Solicitor Jackie Reid says: “Cystic Fibrosis is the UK's most common life-threatening inherited disease and we are delighted to be able to donate this money to the charity. The Trust carries out important work funding medical and scientific research to develop a cure and provide effective treatments for cystic fibrosis so we felt it was important to support it.”

She added: “The charity was brought to our attention this year when a colleague’s family became affected by the disease. Working together to raise this money has brought a real community spirit to the firm and we’ve all had a lot of fun taking part in the various events which helped raise such a fantastic sum.”

June Ross, regional fundraising manager in Scotland for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, added: “Thanks to the support from staff initiatives like Raeburn Christie and Clark & Wallace and the company’s wonderful contribution to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, we will be able to fund our vital research and support programmes for people with the disease.

“The medical research has led to great improvements in the treatment of cystic fibrosis, helping increase both the life expectancy and quality of life for those living with the illness. On behalf of the 800 young people in Scotland who have Cystic Fibrosis we would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to fundraise to help us.”
