Leading Aberdeen and North East Legal Firm, Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace (RCCW) has announced the purchase of Ellon based law practice Winchesters Solicitors.
Specialising in Residential Conveyancing and Private Client matters, Winchesters Solicitors also carries out a variety of other legal work including Commercial, Corporate and Civil Litigation.
Principal, Douglas Winchester, will join RCCW as a Consultant and brings with him Secretary, Donna Morrison, and Paralegal, Lynn Mennie. A previous employee of RCCW, Donna is familiar with the firm and its processes, which will undoubtedly assist with the smooth transition of the business. All three will relocate to RCCW’s Ellon Branch office. This will bring the Branch head count to sixteen members of staff, the largest full service law practice in the town.
Mr Winchester stated: “As a full service law firm, RCCW is an ideal match for our business. The agreement will allow us to maintain continuity in delivering a top quality service to all our clients. In addition to the legal services we currently provide, my clients will now also be able to benefit from the advice of RCCW’s independent Financial Services team, as well as the wide range of services throughout their branch network in Aberdeen and the North-East.”
Originally based in Aberdeen, Douglas Winchester founded Winchesters Solicitors as a sole practitioner in 1985, but moved to Ellon ten years later when the firm became a satellite branch of the Grant Smith Law Practice. This arrangement ended in 1999 when Mr Winchester formed a new Partnership under the Winchesters banner with Solicitor John Boyle. Working independently since 2015, Mr Winchester’s firm is well-known in the Ellon area.
A founding member of the Ellon Rugby Club and active in the Rotary and Golf Club, Mr Winchester is a familiar face in the town and brings with him a number of long term and valued clients.
Mr Winchester continued: “I have always had a good working relationship with the people at Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace and I admire the ethos of the firm. I have no doubt that this move is a positive step for both my clients and my team.”
RCCW is the longest established firm in the town. Originally known as A.J. Raeburn & Co, the practice was founded in 1854. The firm merged with Aberdeen firm Messrs Christie, Buthlay & Rutherford in 1975 and later became Raeburn Christie & Co. Subsequently merging with Messrs Clark & Wallace in 2004 to form Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace, as it is now known, the firm has always maintained its Branch presence in Ellon, as well as offices in Aberdeen, Inverurie, Banchory and Stonehaven.
Keith Allan, Managing Partner at RCCW, stated: “We are delighted to secure Winchesters Solicitors. Our firm is proud of its long history in Ellon and this acquisition fits well with our long term growth strategy in the area.” He added: “Douglas Winchester is a very experienced and highly respected Solicitor. We are honoured that he has chosen to entrust his business to us and look forward to welcoming Doug, Donna and Lynn to our firm.”
