RCC&W Consultant to undertake Sleep in the Park

Consultant Douglas Winchester from Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace (RCC&W), a leading Aberdeen and North-east legal firm, is preparing for a night in the cold in support of charity Social Bite.

Mr Winchester is a Consultant in the firm’s Ellon branch and specialises in Residential Property and Private Client matters. He is well known in the local area as he was Principal of Winchesters Solicitors until June of this year, when his firm was acquired by RCC&W. Mr Winchester is also a founding member of the Ellon Rugby Club and active in the Rotary and Golf Club.

Social Bite is on a mission to build a collaborative movement to end homelessness in Scotland. Using a pioneering social enterprise model, they enable people affected by homelessness to transform their own lives. Giving out over 140,000 items of food and hot drinks each year to those experiencing homelessness, they are the largest distributor of fresh, free food in the UK. They are building a movement to end homelessness by generating funds, awareness and action across all sections of society; believing that a Scotland where everyone has a safe place to call home is possible.

Their Sleep in the Park initiative was launched last year in Edinburgh. 2018 sees a significant expansion to the project, with sleep outs happening in four cities across Scotland on Saturday 8th December. In Aberdeen, the event takes place in Duthie Park on Polmuir Road.

This is the first time Mr Winchester has taken part in an event like this. He says: “Throughout my professional life I’ve been involved in helping people buy their homes, and I’ve always had a roof over my head myself, so feel that it’s about time I give something back. I’ve been really impressed by the ways in which Social Bite has brought new ideas to the homelessness issue and I am delighted to support their cause”.

Managing Partner, Keith Allan, says: “I am delighted to hear that Doug has agreed to take part in this deserving charity initiative. As a firm we organise and take part in a number of events each year to raise funds for local charities and support the communities we live in. I wish Doug all the best with his fundraising.”

If you would like to sponsor Mr Winchester and help raise funds for Social Bite, donations can be made via Mr Winchester’s Facebook page, by visiting: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/dougwinchester or by handing them in at any RCC&W office.
