This week’s property feature is on homes in the Ellon area. Ellon is approximately 16 miles north of Aberdeen and is situated on the river Ythan. The town is well served with amenities including 3 primary schools, the nearby Ellon Academy and community centre inclduing a swimming pool. The Meadows sports centre, located on Ellon’s outskirts has many sporting facilities and clubs, including football and rugby pitches, an astroturf pitch for hockey, a gym, and a multi-use sports hall. The Meadows is also home to Ellon United football team, the Ellon Rugby Club and Ellon Hockey Club.
The town has a number of pubs and cafes and independent shops together with a Tesco and Co-op. The town has GP and dental practices and a post office. Ellon is steeped in history , with Ellon Castle, together with a category A listed bridge across the Ythan, built in 1793 and still in use as a pedestrian bridge. The nearby riverside gardens provides a walkway alongside the Ythan for appromately 5.5 miles.
