Meet Kirsty: Private Client Solicitor in Inverurie and Aberdeen
I’m Kirsty, an Associate Solicitor in the Private Client department at Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace. I’ve worked in Private Client more or less since the day I qualified and it’s the kind of work that I’ve always enjoyed; sitting down with people, understanding what matters to them, and helping them plan for the future.
Since rejoining Raeburns in 2023, I’ve been based across two of our branches, Albyn Place in Aberdeen and our Inverurie Branch on North Street, where I meet regularly with clients from across Aberdeenshire.
A day working in the Private Client Team at Raeburns
No two days look exactly the same, but I try to bring some structure to them. Where I can, I divide my time between meeting days – spent with clients, listening, advising and working through what they need, and work days – where I focus on drafting, correspondence and everything else that keeps matters moving.
What matters most to me as a Private Client Solicitor
Honesty is at the top of the list. People come to me at important moments in their lives, and they deserve the right answer.
Alongside that, I want every client to feel genuinely comfortable. Legal matters can feel daunting, and part of my job is making sure they don’t have to be. The most rewarding moments in my work are when a client who came in worried about writing their Will leaves saying “that wasn’t so difficult after all”.
Working for Raeburns in Inverurie
One of the things I enjoy most about this role is the variety of people I work with. Clients come from all over Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire with different circumstances and different needs, and that is what keeps the work interesting. The Inverurie office has a real community feel to it, and the team there knows the local area well, which makes a difference when you’re helping someone navigate a house purchase or plan their estate.
Three things I couldn’t do my job without
With my time split across different offices and client visits, there’s three things that keep me organised and on top of everything: my laptop, my car and my paper diary. In a world where everything is digital, you still can’t beat a good paper diary.
Outside of the Office
Away from work, you’ll find me horse riding or out walking my very energetic Labrador. It’s a great way to wind down after a busy week at work.
