Our Property Shop Branch History
While they are now fairly ubiquitous, until the late 1980s it was unusual for Aberdeen Solicitor Estate Agents to run their Estate Agency business from outside their main headquarters. Much reliance was placed on the service provided by the Aberdeen Solicitors Property Centre (ASPC), to which all local solicitors subscribed.
A change took place towards the end of the 1980s, encouraged by the establishment in the city of a number of independent Estate Agency branches, which increased competition in this area.
Both Clark & Wallace and Raeburn Christie – pre-merger – were among the first local firms to recognise the importance and benefit of a separate Estate Agency office, allied to but separate from the firms’ headquarter building.
Clark & Wallace operated initially from an office at 33 Holburn Street, manned by a partner of the firm , Mr Bill Barclay. Bill went on to develop his role in the merged RCCW, and is now Head of the firm’s Estate Agency department.
Raeburn Christie & Co also operated their Estate Agency business close to Holburn Junction at 520 Union Street, an office led by Mr Keith Allan, who was head of Estate Agency at Raeburns.
In 2002, Raeburn Christie relocated to a larger and more prominent office at 399 Union Street, just prior to the merger of the two firms. The new office was large enough to house the property teams of both organisations, and following the merger it became the principal Estate Agency and conveyancing hub for both firms. The new office was jointly managed by Keith and Bill until 2011, when Keith became Managing Partner of RCCW, leaving Bill in sole charge of the office.
The Union Street office now boasts a sizable team of experienced solicitors, property staff and financial service personnel, who bring diverse skills and expertise to meet the varied needs of our property clients, whether they are buying, selling or looking to mortgage or re-mortgage their homes – thus providing a “One Stop” shop for all property related matters.
The firm is one of the largest Solicitor Estate Agents in the North of Scotland, currently advertises over 500 properties for sale in the wider North-East of Scotland area, including around 240 located within Aberdeen City and suburbs.
Our offices at Union Street are located only a few hundred yards from our headquarter building at Albyn Place, where the full range of legal services is available to clients seeking something beyond property advice.
Due to their considerable property experience, both Keith and Bill are involved in the management of ASPC . Keith as Company Secretary and Bill as a Board Member.
