Experience to assist you

After working in an accounting role for over 20 years, during which Arlene obtained a Law Degree with Honours from the University of Aberdeen, working within the Private Client department is a perfect fit as it utilises both a Legal and Accounting role.

Arlene can assist on tax matters relating to recently deceased clients and the estate period thereafter, and also individual clients’ annual tax returns, including Capital Gains Tax matters, particularly in connection with the sale of properties where CGT has to be reported and paid within 30 days of sale to HM Revenue & Customs, and completion of annual self-assessment tax returns.

Preparation of Trust and Estate accounts

Arlene also administers clients’ day to day financial affairs on behalf of Raeburn Christie Trustees Ltd who hold Power of Attorney, and assisting clients who themselves hold Power of Attorney or are acting as a Guardian. Completing annual accounts to comply with The Office of the Public Guardian (Scotland) rules.

Going the extra mile

Patient and able to assist and support clients who may be quite anxious about their tax affairs.

Always plain speaking to ensure the clients have a clear understanding of what is expected of them regarding tax matters, or where they have been appointed as a Financial Attorney or Guardian for a family member or friend, and assisting them throughout this role.

When acting as financial attorney for a client, their circumstances and requirements can vary greatly. Arlene gets to know the individual and by building a lasting relationship ensures that all clients’ requirements and needs are met.
