Jim has built up a vast experience in the Financial Services Industry since joining the Commercial Union (now Aviva) in 1973. He was with them for 10 years as a Consultant responsible for the sale of Insurance, Investment and Pension products before joining a well known Firm of Solicitors in the north-east. This was to be one of the first Solicitor firms in Scotland to have its own inhouse Financial advisor. He remained there for 10 years building up the department to a head count of 8. He was then asked by Raeburn Christie to join them and set up a similar department. Jim was one of the first to become a member of the Society of Financial Advisors. His knowledge of the Industry and experience has also proved  invaluable when looking after clients insurances, investments and pensions.

Going the extra mile

Jim is very well known and respected in the Industry. He takes time to explain to clients all the options available to them and most importantly the risks involved. He talks in terms that are easy to understand and does not use any industry jargon. His main remit now is in relation to clients inheritance tax planning and wealth preservation.

Other Roles

Jim is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, The Personal Finance Society and holds the Diploma in Financial Planning. He also tutors to post graduate Law students at Robert Gordons University on Financial Services. He is also a member of the Aberdeen Independent Financial Advisors Forum of which he has been chairman.
