Trainee Update – Rosie Henderson
Continuing our 2022-24 Trainee Cohort update, Rosie Henderson summarises her trainee journey over the last year.
2022
I started my traineeship at the end of August 2022. My first seat was for eight months in the Commercial Property Team and I was based within the plot sales team. I dealt with the conveyancing aspects of plot sales, part exchanges and resales. This was a fast paced team and this seat helped me improve in multi-tasking while also paying attention to detail.
Second Seat
My second seat began in May 2023 in Residential Conveyancing, where I undertook sale and purchase transactions, transfers of title and discharges of standard securities. This seat involved a great deal of client interaction and I learned how important it is to communicate with clients in a way which is clear and concise in order that they understand all the elements of the process.
Current Seat
My third seat began in September 2023 in the Litigation Department where I am working on debt recovery and personal injury claims. This seat has highlighted the importance of deadlines as Court has strict deadlines to which you must adhere at all times.
Application tips
In terms of applying for Traineeships, I would always look at what areas of law the firm practices and make sure that these line up with your interests and career goals. I think it’s important to personalise your application to stand out, including your transferrable skills from any jobs, work experience, other experience and who you are as a person that would make you a good fit for the firm and as a trainee solicitor.
