Where are you from?

I was born in Aberdeen, and later brought up in Stonehaven from the age of 2 before moving back to Aberdeen around 20 years later.

Where you did study/what’s your career background?

From school I went straight to working within the financial services industry and my first job was at TSB. I spent nine and a half years there gaining knowledge and experience and later joined RCCW as a Financial Services Consultant.

Why did you apply to RCCW?

After working in a ‘tied’ environment at the bank, I was keen to move to being independent and the vacancy arose at the right time. I was familiar with the firm from a young age with them having an office in Stonehaven where I grew up, and also a number of my bank clients using them for their legal work.

What department(s) do/have you worked across?

I have stayed within the financial services department since my time working at the firm.

How would you describe a typical day/your experience at RCCW to date?

Every day is different at RCCW, each client will have different priorities and objectives so advice will be varied and some days will also be taken up with compliance matters. Whilst there is no such thing as a typical day there is a common theme with them all being busy, which is great! I am also a member of the marketing committee, so it’s interesting to see how different departments are supported and how everything comes together from a brand and promotion perspective in a digital world that is constantly evolving.

What advice would you give to anyone wanting to pursue a career within a law firm?

Every chance you get to develop your skill set and knowledge, go for it. Immerse yourself in opportunities to meet new people within your industry and learn from different experiences. Everyone in your team has the same goal of providing the best service and solutions to clients no matter the role, so it’s important to work on functioning effectively with your colleagues and respective teams and seek help when needed.

What do you like most about working at RCCW?

Each day at the firm is different, and when my clients require any legal advice we are a full service firm meaning I have colleagues in other departments that can provide their services all under one roof. They have also been supportive of a healthy life/work balance.
