Where are you from?

Where you did study/what’s your career background?

I studied my Law degree at the University of Dundee and then did my traineeship at Blackadders in Dundee, moving to their Forfar office as an Assistant Solictor, prior to taking up my current position as Branch Principal approximately 13 years ago.

Why did you apply to RCCW?

I had recently moved to Stonehaven from Dundee and had used RCCW for the purchase of my property and knew how well respected the firm was.

What department(s) do/have you worked across?

I have purely been based in the Stonehaven branch and deal with mostly residential property sales, purchases, and transfers of title.  I also deal with Wills and Powers of Attorney at the branch.

How would you describe a typical day/your experience at RCCW to date?

I don’t really have a typical day as such.  Working in a branch, you never know who is going to walk through the door and what piece of business they might ask you to deal with.

RCCW are a great firm to work for and I feel they really look after their staff and fellow Partners.  We are a firm with a vast knowledge of various areas of law and if you have any questions there is always someone willing to help.

What advice would you give to anyone wanting to pursue a career within a law firm?

It is always good to speak to staff at the firm you are thinking of joining, to get an insight into what training and support they were given when they started working with the firm.  I feel this is key before making a decision to work for any particular law firm, as there is a wide variance in training and support from firm to firm.  RCCW are excellent at both.

What do you like most about working at RCCW?

I enjoy working in the town I live in and serving my local community.  I have a great team at the Stonehaven branch and there is great camaraderie.  The Charity Committee are always organising events to get the staff and Partners together and it is great to see everyone getting involved.  I recently had a spell of very bad health and the firm stood by me and got me through this.
