2022-23

I commenced my Traineeship at the end of August 2022. My first seat was for eight months within the Private Client Department where I dealt with a variety of matters which included the preparation of Wills, Powers of Attorney and the administration of estates.

Current Seat

My current seat is within the Commercial Property Team where I will remain until January before commencing my final seat for the last eight months of my Traineeship. My time so far in Commercial property has been spent primarily assisting with resales, part exchanges and dealing with land ownership enquiries for Commercial developers. In both my seats the teams I have worked with have been friendly and have had an “Open Door” policy where they have always been more than happy to help me with anything I need.

Application Tips

My top tips for things to think about when apply for a traineeship would be: to think about any transferable skills which you might have gained through part time jobs, work experience or university societies as these skills are just as important as any legal experience you may have. They will allow you to demonstrate your abilities and show to a hiring board the kind of person you are and why you would be a good fit for their firm.  It is also important to attend law fairs and research the firms you are thinking of making an application to for a traineeship. This will allow you to talk to the staff of the firm and get a feel for whether or not the firm is the right fit for you, your personality and your career plans.
