Managing Partner

Callum was appointed as Managing Partner in 2019, having been with the firm since 1980 when he joined as an Apprentice Solicitor after graduating with Honours from Edinburgh University. Prior to his appointment, he had served on the firm’s Management Committee for over 20 years.

As Managing Partner, Callum is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the firm including leading and implementing strategy, internal and external communications, governance and client management – which includes dealing with (occasional) complaints in his role as Client Relations Partner. Callum is also responsible for supervising the firm’s finances and ensuring compliance with the stringent Accounts Rules of the Law Society of Scotland.

Callum was previously head of the firm’s Commercial Property Department and has more than 40 years’ experience of all aspects of commercial property work, having specialised in the acquisition and development of residential land for national and local house builders and developers. He has a detailed working knowledge and understanding of the technical challenges facing clients in the house-building sector and also has substantial working experience and knowledge of the social housing sector and the compliance and regulatory issues connected with that area of work.
