Last week Terry Knox handed over her tape measure and clipboard, retiring after 40 years as a property consultant, 22 of which were at RCCW’s Inverurie branch. Following her long and enjoyable career Terry intends to celebrate with a family holiday and will then pursue her hobbies, which include walking, cycling and reading. In the future she plans in to volunteer within the local community.

Back in 1999 Terry was instrumental in the opening of the RCCW’s Inverurie branch. RCCW expanded its branch network in response to the rapid growth of Inverurie and increased development within the surrounding area. Terry had previously worked for a rival Estate Agent for many years and her experience helped the Inverurie branch to quickly grow to become one of the firm’s most successful outlets.  She described herself and fellow colleagues at the time as “the new kids on the block and the talk of the town!”

That talk was all very positive as Terry is well known in the area and her reputation in the profession is borne out by the level of repeat business she received. She frequently acted in the sale of properties for the children of previous clients, helping generations in the Inverurie area move up and down the property ladder according to their needs. Terry has seen many changes in the area during her career recalling that property prices in 1999 were very different – two bedroomed apartments were priced at between £36,000 – £55,000, and a three bed semi-detached was around £83,000.  Terry has seen the highs and lows of the Aberdeenshire property market over the years, but has enjoyed the role enormously, particularly meeting many clients, helping them to find their ideal home. She credits hard work, team spirit, a positive outlook and a sense of humour as helping her, the RCCW team and clients through the more difficult times, including this past year.

Terry will be missed by the firm, her colleagues and no doubt her many clients and we wish her a long and happy retirement.
